I always say the brighter my wardrobe , the brighter my day "LOL" that's just me. So here are some colors that will help brighten your wardrobe if you need that make over.

 1.AS WHITE AS SNOW

White often represents light in contrast with darkness. And its definitely one of the best color to brighten up your wardrobe because its the color produced by the combination of all colors of the visible spectrum. Its most associated with pureness, perfection and cleanliness so just make sure that you don't spill anything on it.:-)

2.CORAL

Ever heard of coral reefs? I think they are the most beautiful underwater structures with a pinkish and orange shade that ever exists. Depending on what item you pick the coral color steals the day. And the most amazing thing about this color is that even when done on the lips or nails its a show stopper.

3.MINT GREEN

Don't you just love this color? Whenever i think of mint , i crave for freshness. So why not refresh your wardrobe. It's an absolutely gorgeous color to try out. try something simple if you are new to the color game by rocking some colorful nail polish before you go big.

3. SUNNY YELLOW

The look of this color instantly makes you smile. It's for those days when you just want to be happy. Try accessorizing it with some blending color like blue and see how amazing you look.

4.ORANGE

Having the name derived from an orange fruit, orange is definitely a strong color that can never go unnoticed. Try pairing it with another color , you will truly love it. Its good for clothing , accessories and shoes. So tell me among the four which is your best and which one would you like to add to the list....

7 ways to wear 80's Fashion Trends in a modern way..

1. Off-the-Shoulder

One of the '80s fashion trends was oversized shirts that were worn off-the-shoulder. Often, these shirts were very bright. The off-the-shoulder trend can be quite modern, but you need to keep the look stream-lined. Stick to shirts that fit closer to the body and are meant to be worn off the shoulder. Also, avoid pairing these shirts with acid wash jeans, which are another trend from the 1980s.

2. Acid Wash Jeans

Even though they were stylish at the time, the acid wash jeans from the 1980s would not be considered very attractive today. Most of the jeans from the '80s had the typical “mom jean” cut, which made them unflattering. However, despite their shortcomings, it is possible to wear acid wash jeans in a modern and stylish way. Stick to skinny or straight leg styles with a low or mid-rise.

3. Neon Colors

Neon colors were extremely popular in the 1980s; people thought nothing of pairing all the neon colors together. However, to keep the neon color trend modern, you want to stay away from pairing different neon colors together. To add a great pop of color to an outfit and keep it very modern, stick to neon accessories. Hot pink shoes or a neon yellow belt can make an outfit very stylish. Personally, I love the addition of hot pink shoes.

3. Large Chunky Earrings

Large chunky earrings adorned many ears in the 1980s. Often, they were geometric shapes and bright colors, and they were paired with big hair. If you want to embrace the chunky earring trend, stick to earrings that are jewel toned or neutral, and keep the rest of your outfit simple. Also, if you wear your hair in a modern way, you will be sure to look chic.

5. High Ponytails

If you look at pictures from the '80s, you will often see women wearing high, teased ponytails. To modernize the high ponytail trend, keep your hair sleek and avoid scrunchies. The great thing about wearing a sleek, high ponytail is that it instantly wakes up your face and draws attention to all of your features. It is a flattering look that is very simple.

6. Blue Eye Shadow

Blue eye shadow is perhaps one of the most iconic makeup trends from the 1980s. Even my mom wore bright blue eye shadow! Even though blue eye shadow is a signature of the '80s, it is possible to wear it in a modern way. For a modern take on blue eye shadow, use the shadow as an eyeliner. It will give you the pop of blue you want without being too much.

7. Leotards

In the 1980s, leotards were worn for working out. You can still embrace the leotard trend without looking like you belong in a Jane Fonda workout video. For example, leotards are great for yoga class. You don’t have to worry about them coming over your head when you are in downward facing dog. Just be sure to pair your leotard with yoga pants and not tights and a belt.
The trends from the 1980s were loud and very iconic, which can make them difficult to wear in a modern way. However, it is possible wear 1980s trends in a modern way. You just have to make a few adjustments, and you will have a modern and stylish look. Which style from the 1980s would you like to incorporate into your style?

ACCESSORIZE YOUR WARDROBE IN STYLE..

An accessory is a must have in every girls wardrobe. With accessories, one can supplement and complement their look to classy and elegant. In the 1950’s fashion accessories such as fruit corsages to adorn sweaters and hats became more popular in the Western world. But over the centuries fashion has taken new and different dimension with time. This has seen accessories such as jewellery, gloves, handbags, sunglasses, scarves, suspenders etc evolve.

Other than adding color, style and class to an outfit, accessories also have a practical function e.g. handbags and wallets can be used to carry small items such as cash, notebooks etc. Some accessories like belts can be used to accessorize dresses, sweaters and tops to complement a woman’s figure to an hour glass shape.

Scarves on the other hand can be used to do so much. For example, a scarf can be used to protect you from cold during cold weather. It can also be tied on the hair as a headband depending on one’s choice and finally a colored scarf can be used to break down a dull outfit and just give your days look some smile :-).

Share with me any other names and photos of accessories your favorite accessories and i can add to my list  as well.

CROSS BODY BAG? WHY NOT...!

It's holiday time, so drop down your office bag and go for a cross body bag. A cross body bag has a strap long enough to hang on your shoulder and diagonally across your body, allowing you to be completely free. They are more relaxed, comfortable and secure than the normal day to day hand bags .They come in different colors and sizes depending on ones taste and choice.

Like most bags, cross body bags can also be used for practical functions like carrying money and other small necessities. With a cross body bag, one does not need to carry a wallet like many bags. This is because these bags have many pockets inside just like a wallet so one has the option to even put their credit cards and other items.

This kind of bag is good to carry when going shopping, for outdoor walks/nature walks, trips, concerts, dates and many more relaxed places. It’s a street fashion trend and therefore adds up the style, elegance and glamorous look in you.The best thing I like about this bag is because one can wear it with dresses, trousers, skirts , shorts and any relaxed kind of outfit. So get your groove on and try a cross body bag. Here are some of my best Pinterest cross body bag photos. Share with me a photo of any cross body bag you have.

TIE YOUR BOW IN STYLE.

Gone are the days when a bow-tie was an all male affair. Bow-ties are now trending in the world of female fashion. It’s rather a vintage look that bloomed during the 80’s. The bow-tie is an accessory that I am so crazy about. In my creative world of design I came to learn that a bow-tie is rather a simple, stylish and pocket friendly affair. One doesn’t need to go window shop for one in the nearest clothing store. I mean, why not make one on of your own. One that suits and satisfies your own style desire.

I am always fascinated when I put on my own piece.  It makes me feel proud and confident especially when a friend or stranger goes like “O.M.G that is so pretty. It also makes you stand out in a unique, stylish and special way. This is because your piece is not so obvious to anyone; it’s been made with keenness and creativity which is not so obvious, adding to it that stylish feel when worn.

As an accessory, bow-ties can be used to complement various types of outfits and hair do ’s depending on one’s suitability. Use it as a hair accessory to complete your look and give you that girly touch. Other than that, it can be worn on collared shirts, dresses and blouses for official, dates or cocktail dressing.

The most important thing you must note when coming up with your own piece is to look for a fabric/material that suit your desire. For you to be unique go for floral printed fabric, stripes, colorful fabrics and even African printed material e.g. the “kitenge or Ankara” gives the unique touch.

You can also make one and stick or sew it on your clutch bag just to add that unique style when going for a party or date with friends. For your weekend look, make two similar bow-ties for your plain or dull colored doll shoes.

C) Turn your fabric inside –out and fold it in half lengthwise. For a neat fold use your iron box to press    onto the fabric. Sew the three sides of the rectangle and leave about 1 inch not sewn. Through the hole turn the piece inside-out then close with a few slip stitches. Then press the stitched sides and edges using your iron box for a neat finishing.
d) To secure the bow shape, hold the top and the bottom of your rectangular stitched fabric and push towards the centre then sew it to hold it in place. Sew a small band around the middle for a neat finishing.
